A fantastic opportunity awaits a passionate and reliable farm assistant with a minimum of 1 season of farming experience near Methven. The role involves working on a 129-ha, 500-cow farm that operates a 54-point rotary milking system. The farm utilizes pivot and lateral irrigation, along with various equipment such as 2 and 4-wheelers, tractors, rollers, silage wagons, and mowers.
Responsibilities
As a key member of the team (comprising 2-3 staff), you’ll be responsible for:
- Assisting with daily milking, teat spraying, and herd feeding.
- Undertaking general farm work to ensure farm efficiency and animal welfare.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment and yards.
- Identifying and treating common animal health problems.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a minimum of one season of farming experience.
- Is a hard worker, eager to contribute to the smooth running of the dairy farm.
- Learns quickly and is hands-on in their approach.
- Can independently milk cows, a highly beneficial skill.
- Holds a Full Class 1 driver’s license.
- Can operate 2 and 4-wheelers and drive a tractor.
Working Holiday Visa holders will be considered if they can commit to a minimum of 9 months and have prior farming experience.
